Podcrafters and ACE

27 May 2010

Podcrafters is involved in the Authors Convention and Exhibition of 2010.

Organized by Cookie Island’s Jilly Kidd, it is a week of poetry reading, presentations by authors and answers to questions about recording (Podcrafters specialty!)  Oh, and don’t forget the dances!

I (Arlene Radasky aka Imarad Breen) was there on Monday and answered all sorts of questions about podcasting. I handed out a note filled with information and will do the same again tomorrow. I hold on tight as the convention is on an orbiting sphere and you can see space through the floor! But we seem to be learning and enjoying the week so far!

We had planned on teaching classes In Second Life, during the Authors’ Conference Exhibition the last week of April however, due to computer problems the conference has been delayed until the last week of May. We will have the kick off presentation on the London School of Journalism Spheres in orbit. I have been holding my Podcrafters Office hours there. The pictures show the space craft and our section from the outside looking in. The conference will be jam packed with poets, and authors of all types and we will be answering questions of all types. Hope you come! The ACE dates will be posted here when they are determined.

Podcrafters in OuterSpace

2 April 2010

April 2, 2010

Podcrafters hours for Cookie Island was in outerspace today! I decided that since the ACE (Authors Convention and Exhibition) is starting on April 24th that it would be fun to have the Podcrafters hour on the orbiting pod. Most of the spaces in both pods are taken my authors and poets. It is a great place to go explore and be a part of.
Podcrafters is scheduling a time to give our presentation to the conventioneers, it will be on the first Saturday or Sunday, April 24 or 25 at 12 or 1 SLT. It is still being decided but will be announced. We are going to use it to kick off the classes that will be scheduled after the convention.

I had a good conversation with an English teacher who was new to SL and looking for an assignment for her class. I suggested she have them write something, record it and then see if it helps with editing. She was very excited and will use it. She may also start recording her poetry! She is now a member of Podcrafters and will come to our events.

My hour on Book Island was quiet, I talked to one resident and we discussed Griz’s work, the public domain recording.

Guest Blog Post From Netera Landar

14 January 2010

Hi everyone,

Rhonda is nice enough to allow me to network with you. For one, I want to announce that she’s going to be my guest on a Second Life author/artist chat. I’ve booked her for Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010. I’m very excited to learn about her writing, as I’m sure all of you are. For those of you unfamiliar with Second Life, it’s a 3D virtual/voice social network unlike anything you’ve ever seen. 80,000 people from around the world are already inworld. After establishing a free account on www.secondlife.com, creating an avatar, you teleport to sims you desire to explore. I’ve created a coffee shop (on a sim called Terric), an Asian tea house (on Starrs), both of which I’m currently booking weekly chats for. Now, the conference center is something different. Authors, publishers, pr reps, will be able to rent monthly a workstation to have a virtual office area. I can provide a lot of realistic add ons. The top floor will be rented per session for virtual book signings, lectures, etc. It will all be affordable. My goal, mainly, is for it to be a functional building where authors can come together. It really is a work of art. I invite you to join me. I even play receptionist. You can contact me for more info at Netera@aol.com, or inworld by adding me as a friend: Netera Landar.
